Have my 90 chevy on the hoist and notice lots of surface rust showing up. Every fall I put the truck up on the hoist and clean the loose sand off from the complete underside. I use a 2' length of old steel line on the end of the air nozzle. This takes me a long time since I am meticulous. I then spray using Proform http://www.proformproducts.com/en/products/coatings/rustproofing/wax-based-permanent-rustproofing/

I again do every area so its soaking wet.

So is this product crap since it doesn't seem to be helping or is this what I can expect from rustproofing? or is there something better that will stick and buildup?

Dennis

Other than it's messy and tends to drip for awhile, why not just oil it yearly?

I do and it takes me a day to do my truck. The first time I did it after I bought it 4 yrs ago I spent 4 days cleaning the crap from under it  spraying it. I got about 2 gal of sand and crap collected on a lumber tarp laid out under it.

Drop it off at Krown rust proofing, walk to Tim Hortons, enjoy coffee and donut. Walk back, pay some where about $129. Sleep good that night, and every night after.
Do it again next fall.

I do not recommend oiling for sure.. remember oil eats rubber..or at least makes it pretty mushy and all your door rubbers will fall off when they turn to mush.. if you keep an eye on CTC sales.. you can probably buy 10 or more cans of rust check for less than $100 bucks and get enough do a good job.. I have also mixed Chainsaw bar oil with trans fluid to get a nice non drip and creep rust proofing .. On any car I store I use a product from up your way called mouse free.. undercoating with peppermint oil... you can google Mouse free undercoating.. I never rust proof my car -rod as it never sees rain or frost or snow.. and my SUV everyday driver.. I only ever do the week spots and all the brake and steel fuel lines and a few of the spots that "LOOK" like they need some protection.. I hate guys who soak the under-hood and engine compartment.. I am speaking as 50 year technician who has to work on that chit that gets soaked in greasy dirty undercoating..biggrin

wanna know how I made my old jeep last for 20 years? during the winter I washed all underneath it at the car wash, the inner fenders, underside of everything, removing the salt from the lower body is what saves them

Fluid Film. Spray it yourself. Doesn't drip. Available in Canada at TSC Stores (at a good price ... available at other stores for more $$).  You're welcome biggrin

I should add, I did two cars with 1 gallon.  Used to get Crown but so much of that stuff ends up on the ground, you gotta wonder if there's anything left on the car.  They claim Crown drips for a day or two, well it dripped for two weeks when they did my fathers car.  Just saying.  Oh yeah, crown does make rubber soft but this stuff apparently doesn't have any solvents in it so it supposedly doesn't affect rubber.  Time will tell.  This is the stuff I've started using.
