Seems I always loved cars. More so after I bought my first AMT 1/25th model kit at about 12. Then on to Hot Rod, Popular Rodding, Car Craft and later Street Rodder magazines. Now it's The Rodder's Journal. Went through different phases of favorite rods. Lowboy roadsters, T buckets, roadster pickups, Gassers and the epitome, the Deuce. Suffered the lament, if I could actually have one would it be a coupe or a roadster, full fenders or high boy. If a coupe it would have to be chopped and the roof filled. How things change. Finally at 16 on to actual cars, '55 Chevys. Much later had a Nomad. Then on to plastic cars, early Corvettes. The big three and some others made so many great cars and there is so little time. Never enough space. Never enough money.

 Amazing! That is where the name stems from. Used to see that car run at Cayuga in my youth. I rarely run across someone that remembers that car.

I have a big block black car that had side pipes we named Runblegutz after that gasser. Car was stolen July 20, 2000. I'm still the legal owner.

 After a dance with cancer the name seemed to fit me.

Don, we pass by your place sometimes once a week and always look to see what's parked in the driveway. What's up with the speed limit dropping to 60 klm at your end?

I followed your trip on Route 66 to the coast last year.

Still remember my first purchase. Don't recall if it was you or Paul that I bought one spark plug from at Queenston. Young man wanted to know the application as I asked for one R45 and I think the spec was 44. I was on my way to London and number 2 was fouling and a hotter plug lasted longer. That conversation lead me to Harold Donn. I was driving another '62 but I had his at home which I didn't know at the time.

I still remember the discount you gave car guys when you were manager at Nethercott. Worked great for me. That stopped when you moved on. Thought I was going to die. Lucked out and the local Pontiac Buick dealer gave me cost plus 10. He's long gone too.

As I recall you told me that the '34 Chevy 3 window coupe ended up as a drag racer. Any idea where it is now?

Don't know if you know but I have a real Henry Deuce 3 window now.

Yes Dan. They are building 3500 homes around the corner on McClung RD and they need to go by our place to go to Miles or Tyneside to get into the city. They dropped Miles Rd about a year or so ago. Not looking forward to the increased traffic. I have to wait a couple of mins now to go from shop driveway to the house driveway if I'm moving vehicles around. Time will tell if we need to relocate but hate the thoughts of moving the shop.
The Route 66 was a trip of a lifetime and it was our 40th anniversary. Only thing I would have liked to change was to be able to take our 40 Chev instead of the Malibu. We have longer ties with it. Had good company with us as well which made it nicer.
Did we only have 1 plug in stock or is that all you wanted lol I can still picture the brand new 327 350 HP motor we sold Harold for his 66 Corvette. Sat in the crate just inside the man doors.
The 34 Chev ended up with Brian in Brantford. Think he is a member on this forum. It is painted a flat blue color with a 409 5spd in it. Did a great job on the car. He bought it from the guy who was going to drag race it.
I liked having the car guys in as customers. Nice to chat and keep up on projects, events etc. I figured if I couldn't afford to buy the part at list price than you guys couldn't either. Also depended if the guy had the attitude that we owed him the discount... but that's another story lol
And yes I think I drooled over your 3 window one night at the Dunnville cruise night. It was either the 3 window or the 66 Vette ? not sure

Drop in next time your going by. Usually home as retired from the parts business now and enjoy tinkering with the classics..
