Any knowledge on reprogramming a key fob?

Seems to me I read somewhere that you can programme a new key fob ( when your daughter breaks both keys off that you had)no

i pieced back the shanks and had a key cut for $2 and just taped the fob to the column to get by and it works.

Cost of new key/ fob from stealership is $175 plus tax.

reprogramming is $50 charge.

new key fob from flea bay is $23 shipped to my door.

$2 bucks to have it cut.

just  wondering if anybody else has programmed their own or has any thoughts on the best route to go.

I'd hate to see her have to pay $500 to replace the 2 that came with mine when she drove mine for the winter.

Search Kijiji, Ontario, Automotive, Chrysler key fob
Dozens come up from about $15.00
Buy fob, go to you tube and they will tell you how to match program

Since we're on the subject, I have a Dodge which requires 2 key fobs to program. I have 1. Any ideas?

type this into Google 'programming a dodge key fob'
Looks like the vehicle can program a new fob.

Ok Warren, here are the instructions for my vehicle:

Programming a Dodge key fob can differ between models. For example, to program a 2006 Ram 1500, the first valid key is put into the ignition and turned to the "On" position for at least three seconds and no longer than 15 seconds. The key is then turned back to the "Off" position and removed from the ignition.

A second valid key is then put into the ignition and switched to "On" for 15 seconds. After 10 seconds, the security light will flash, and the key is turned to "Off" and removed.

Next, a blank Sentry key is put into the ignition and switched to "On" within 60 seconds of removing the second key. After ten seconds the security light stops flashing, and the third key is turned to "Off" and removed.

So now I need an answer to my question please. Does anyone know how to do it with only 1 key? Thanks.

Most manufactures are the same.
If you have one key that works, you should be able to find how to program the second one yourself.

Forgot to post update.

Ya, buy the fob or if you have 1 just programme it yourself. utube has easy to follow istructions and vehicle pretty much does it itself.

total cost for 2 working/programmed fobs was $42
