Does anybody have a magic bullet, I have had this down my right rear cheek all the way down my leg and boy it is starting to eat my good humor. It's going on 2 weeks now and damn it's painful, either that or I am a wimp..Looking for some relief or for somebody to come shoot me..Getting to where I just can't find a sweet spot to sit or even get to sleep .. Last couple days have been hell..I remember having this once about 20 years ago and went to a bone crusher and they did acupuncher but I also remember that it never helped a bit I just don't remember what cured it maybe it was time.. But I will try any anything. I probably trust you guys more than my Doc..

Daughter had a similar problem last winter. Couldn't stand, couldn't sleep, couldn't sit. severe pain very lower back and her leg. finally had an MRI and found a bulging disc. She had the micro surgery at 10 AM and walked out of hospital at 5 PM pain free.
Stand up and cross your legs. Lean forward towards the side that doesn't hurt. Hold that position for 10 seconds or so. Keep your legs somewhat straight
When I use to have that problem at work I do as TMJ has suggested guys thought I was trying to falcate and get all cranked up till they got to know me So I would take advantage of this move and do it in the elevator as the door closed but it did help my back more often than not

......and after you fall over , your face will hurt and you'll forget the other pain

Do you have your wallet in the back pocket, if so move it. Cross leg thing sounds interesting. Not to push it but a chiropractor may help as well. Normally this is a pinched nerve in the lower back or hip that causes it.
I have been plagued with this for over 20 years now, and some days are better than others. Though I have never missed out on much with it I have lived in constant pain always. I refuse to take drugs for it and the chiropractor does ease it aswell as the acupuncture but it takes time when things go bad. Also expensive.
I will try the acrobatics! As I was best off when I use to train and teach Katate due to all the stretching I'm sure that is an important factor.
Best of wishes and hope you feel better soon, it is terble living with the pain, but to add, I have not missed out on anything I wanted to do, just lots of discomfort, not sure about the next 20 years as I'm not in my retirement years yet.

A thin little wallet like mine is a problem for my back. Imagine a wallet as thick as Chuck's WOW
I do not carry a wallet in my back pocket, if I have it at all, it's in the front pocket but it's like my cell phone.. I have to phone myself almost daily to find where I left my phone because I never carry it either I am forever taking my wallet and phone and leaving them someplace..I have been trying this crossing my legs and leaning over. I have done that a couple times and other than feeling silly no relief yet.. Don't know how you lived with this for 20 years Angelo. I would have shot my self .. I am getting grumpy with the constant pain..I had this once before about 15 years ago and I tried the quire boy thing with acupuncture never did squat for me.. I can't remember how it went away. Funny thing about pain as soon as it's gone you forget about it and move on..I hope I just pass away in my sleep.. I haven't had a full nights sleep in over a week with this..Laying just flat on the rug on my back helps for a while but I am a stomach sleeper and I can't fall asleep on my back..I guess I will by and it will go someday.. SOON I hope..thanks for the suggestions..I will be taking a few alieve to-night..

Chuck if you are sleeping on your back put a pillow under the back of your legs behind your knees. Your legs won't pull on your back so much.
If you sleep on your side or even just laying around put a pillow between your knees. If you think of when you stand in a relaxed position your knees are not touching each other (most people). Well when you lay down your knees go together and pull on that hip. I can't sleep without this support, I've had back problems and that very pain for 40 years. One advil helps me a lot too.

Hope you find relief soon Chuck, I know its no fun, I still work a semi physical job and it seems the harder the work the better my back, until I get home and relax. Weekends are tough as I like to sleep in and that seems to be no good, I both look forward to someday retire however sitting idle makes it worse so I'm also worried.
All the above advice is good Chuck, I'm sure time and one or all combinations will work.

This works for me and the Advil or Toradol, Only when absolutely necessary.

Chuck,I hope to her that you find some relief soon, perhaps that roadster is pulling at your strings. I could get it out of your way in an effort to help? But all seriousness aside,I really hope to hear you find som form of relief buddy..
Have had the same problem for more years than I care to remember Chuck, ( 1982 ). Too soft a bed is not going to help you one bit. I had to camp out on the living room carpet with 3 or 4 good heavy quilts under me,..and a real flat pillow under my head to get any relief at all. And follow " too much junk ", ..and " Junior's " advice to a tee. Lay on your side opposit of the problem side,...start pulling your knees up into the fetal position, just to where it feels comfortable without pulling on your back muscles,..and get that pillow / soft cushion between your knees,..try a few different pillows or cushions until you find the thickness that provides the most comfort. That is the only remedy that ever did me any good at all. I flushed my pain killers 31 years ago,..and bid the chiropractor a final goodbye after 3 visits.
I have had back pain for years. About once a year I go through the Sciatic thing just like you. I blame the air conditioner and not from lifting it.. lol.. Google is your friend.. Look for sciatic exercises that you feel you can work with. Stretch it out is what seems to work for me.

Hi Chuck
Sorry to hear your having this pain. I have it once and awhile and it feels like my knee cap is also going to blow off. Similar to what TMJ suggests, but on the floor, lay on your back on your florr and bring your knees up and rock back and forth, side to side. This is supposed to kinda open up things down there and relax the muscle. Yes you feel kinda silly...like a turtle on his back. The others made a good point too Advil or aleve might help.
May sound crazy but I have damaged sacroilliac joints from a fall I had 28 years ago. 24 ft down. I live with continual lock ups and pain. When I get the bad ass piercing pain i believe it or not tape the area. I have a good holding medical tape and I have my wife tape over the joint in an x marks the spot with each piece of tape about 4 inches long.
I then tape over that tape again with a wider stronger tape again of the medical type. For some silly reason it helps me I think by keeping the area more secure.
You may want to try it and see as they say you have nothing to lose. I have never been a pain pill guy and have found multiple chiropractor appts has helped also.
A friend gave me a couple Percocet's.. Which have helped till they wore off but, I got a good nights sleep. but so far nothing is really doing anything.. I wish I could just cut that side off..Maybe I'm a sissy but damn.. I don't know I hate dentist too . However I think, I would rather have a wisdom tooth pulled with no freezing at least you know in ten minutes it's over this crazy pain just throbs on and on..
I was changing the oil on my Motor-home to-day and servicing the front brakes .. I found the drain plug a bit loose when I put my wrench on the drain plug to remove it .. I could turn it out with my finger. That put the fear of the Motor gods into me .. Made me totally forget my pain.. had stripped oil pan threads .. I thought holy poop is there any oil in it.. But the level was fine and there was not much sign of any mess.. I am glad it was not leaking much if any .. I had to drill, tap and install a Healy-coil.. So I was fucused on that and not my pain..Amazing what our mind can do..Oh well back the pain..

Easy on the Percs , bud , had them after my operation last year , loved them , NOT GOOD for you long term . For pain I've had now , the generic 222's sold behind the counter at Shoppers ( not on the shelf , you have to ask ) have helped me . One or two per day .

Just took a couple and they helped a lot, I am far to old to worry about being hooked on pain meds and so what if I need a few to get by some pain.. Hell they have clinics all over the place supplying drugs and needles to addicts, all at our expense .. Who the hell cares if at 75 or so and we need some pain meds. Nobody should have to suffer any pain now-a-days with the magic pills we have .. who the hell cares if we get a bit addicted at this age..It's not like I am going to get any younger or less pain in the future..Why should only the friggen drug addicts get free pain drugs..instead of the seniors that need them..lot of crap to me.. There is no reason to have to be in pain now a days..

I know this may seem extreme but after reading how your oil pan and parking on the street problems kept your mind off the pain.I wonder if maybe have red oak come over over tighten the drain plug on one of your vehicles take take it for a drive hit brakes slide into an immovable object.as I said this is extreme but you asked.
sorry for delayed reply I was busy stringing the razor wire and mounting more cameras.as to that question I am researching for a politically correct response.can not find one so I will use my usual FU.in all seriousness I do feel for you as I too have suffered with it over the years.one thing I found was if I gained weight and pants seemed tight.I found if I used a belt with top button on pants undone it seemed to help.if you attempt this method and fail to use belt leading to your pants ending up around your ankles at an embarrassing moment.I will disavow any knowledge and this message will self destruct.I am serious with this advice although I joke about the failure of following the advice.I tried some of the advice that others have suggested.and do not allow pain killers to take control of your life.
I am thinking the good Lord is just trying to see how much I can take .. He is prepping me for what's to come..When I first get up like this I have no pain, but in about 2 hrs I turn into a wimp..I keep hoping today will the first day of no pain but .... it always returns.
