Yep, he wasn't going to let anything hold him back. Very inspiring.

Very neat. Running a Dynaflow auto trans and running on Butane ??? talk about octane numbers lol He was one heck of a cam grinder. My dad used to use a lot of his grinds in the Sportsmen coupes that he ran. If you want a good book to read Randy, find a copy of "Merchants of Speed" wrote by Paul D Smith. I talked to the author at Barrie a few years back when he was looking at some stuff I had there. His book has 22 chapters, each chapter covering a different inventor from the 50s and 50s such as Ansen, Thickstun, Crane, Edelbrock, Engle, Herbert, Hilborn McGurk and so on. Think I found my copy on Amazon.

Great book isn't it Warren. The author was pretty neat to talk to. Not a real gearhead but wanted to document some of the history and he did an excellent job of it..

Watch out for Amazon.ca . they have it advertised for $992.00 CAN when Amazon.com is $20.00. Yea I know it's probably a misprint, but I think it would provide the shock of the week when you looked at you visa bill

Didn't realize it had gone this far. The $20.00 version is a download to your e-reader. The book is so rare now that it is indeed commanding in the $900-1000 range. Maybe they take hot rods on trade.
