My worst ever was a 52 Ford 2door that I owned for 25 minutes. I bought it in Jordan On. and drove it to Niagara Falls and it shook and rattled and smoked all the way. I paid 75.00 in 1959 for it and sold it for 95.00. Made 20 bucks in half an hour. Not bad money in 59 but I have never owned a Ford since. Made money and learned a lesson.
....but to be fair , a $ 75 ANYTHING is going to be a POS . That's why the guy sold it to you. You were the first " mark " and your 25 minute later buyer was the second "mark" .

Ford WindedStar << Last Ford I'll own.
Owned for 4 years, CEL on 85% of the time.
4 lower control arms
Sliding door fell off track while opening it one day.
heck a weeks pay for a 7 year old car......... can't quite do that anymore................sounds like you escaped with a memory............and twenty bucks............good deal and a lesson learned............thanks for sharing!
I have to admit I have had a few fords and can not complain 67 LTD with a 390,1971merc Montcalm a 1974 merc marquis with a 460 all did me well a 77 T Bird,74 Montego. Back in the day you could buy a ford for less money and I seamed to get lots of miles on them before they rotted out lol
I've had a lot of new and used cars over the years , partly due to the fact I sold cars the last 25 years or so. Since I had a father and two uncles that liked Ford , Chrysler and GM , respectively , I wasn't afraid to try all three over the years .
Probably the most disappointing car was a new 72 Plymouth Duster 318 , 3 speed on the floor . The car looked good in yellow with black stripes , but it had nagging problems from the start including the trans and especially the body rust .....3 body jobs in 7 years . Sometimes it's a series of other " little things " that drive you crazy . I sold it for $995 after the third body job . Any of my major problem vehicles have involved Chrysler products ,,, transmission , A/C or both . I've never had a major issue with a GM or Ford , thankfully . Never blown a motor on any car .

I have owned several new and used cars and I would have to say my wife's 03 Saturn Vue and a 2010 Chrysler 300 C have been the biggest disappoints thus far. We bought the Vue new and has the stout 3.5 Honda engine in however it is mated to a GM transaxel...NOT GOOD! The engine is every bit as strong as the day we bought it but it has just been a world of hurt maintaining the front end and transmission in it. It will be recycled in the fall (which is only fitting given that it is made of plastic and is recycling bin blue )!
As for the 300 C, bought it new and was an awesome car up to about 130,000 then the front end and transmission issues started. Bushings & control arms (as they are a one piece design), inner/outer tierods, balljoints...then transmission issues. I loved the look, feel and performance of the car when new but the feel faded prematurely for me and was costing me small fortune to maintain it, so I sold it and bought a new Taurus SEL. I have had the Taurus for 3 years now and love it!
Many a Chrysler 300 owner has complained about the 300 front end issues .......when I first saw it at the Detroit auto show I remember saying to a friend ..." neat styling , I wonder about quality ? "

I don't think there is a car built that on some years or other they all had a lot of issues but sometimes for what ever reason we end up with one we wish we never seen.. They come in all makes..

Awwwww they can't be that bad I'm sure there is someone out there that has 5 or 10 of them or 20 or so in their family.
I wouldn't know never been in or owned one. I do know there is one that goes by my house at 80 KPH or faster I think we are going to talk some day.
Yes Chuck is right LEMONS come from many different kinds of tree's
You guys realize we will have to delete all this thread about the 300s .. Remember Janice has a fleet of them. If she sees this, it will mean severe punishment for us .. Well for you guys anyway, I never said anything bad about them..You know what Mothers are like..You guys are in a lot of trouble, ... just wait till Janice reads this thread...

I don't know about being a mark but I did take 35.00 of that Ford sale and bought a 1950 Chev sedan that gave me 33 miles to gallon on a trip and used about a quart of oil in 2000 miles. I drove it for about 6 months and sold it for 75.00 and the fellow I sold it to had it for over a year and no problems. I still think it was the FORD nameplate that was the problem.
Styline , I'm not going to argue with you , if you feel that you should judge every Ford by the experience you had with a $75 purchase back in the day , I'm good . Life goes on .

Lol, I don't know how I ended up with my current fleet🙄 But I agree Chuck! Most different brands have there individual issues.
Honestly I'm a truck girl. Nice to have something a little sporty for the 4 weeks of summer I get up here, but for the most part, if it's not a hot rod, I'll take my truck😀
300,s seem to need attention to front ends but I've not had any major issues with the 4 I currently have. One of them has 450,000 kms and counting.
I have owned all 3 big brands over the years and prob close to 100 different cars/ trucks. From Trans ams to awd Safari vans.( those are tanks. That was my version of a mini van when my kids were small. I had a dodge turbo van back in the day that I took in for oil and plug change ect. One of the plugs snapped off just before closing time. Different machanic came in the next day and tried to start it up to move it. That wasn't healthy afterwards but was a good van until that occurred. Loved my Ford Expedition, love my dodge truck with the Hemi. Only owned 1 import ever. A little Mazda that I drove the hell out of just to punish it. It stood up pretty good but I gave it to my sister in law after a couple months. I'm just not into imports.
biggest pos I ever bought was actually a Kawasaki bike back in the 80,s . It Looked good but what a dud😖

good one 51 starting this thread. this could go on for a bit. it's had me thinking for a couple of mornings now, lol. every time i think that's the one, another one comes to mind, lol.

I traded 4 hrs of labour for a ford ranger winter beater drove it 6 years and 200 thousand k . The only vehicle I've owned that I can say i really didn't like was a dodge Dakota . If it would of stopped when i was driving it
I would of had no regrets signing over the ownership taking the plates and walking away. The old saying you can't judge a book by it cover is more true today then ever. At least the glue holding the book together will last a few years
Two of the 3 Fords we had were crappy in the rain/ damp. 79 Fairmont wagon and 84 full size wagon. Used the 84 to pull our drag Camaro on a car trailer all over the place, ended up better towing than the 88 Caprice estate wagon with Old's 307. I put a 350 Old's in it after a while.
My brother has 1 as well and the body is sh*t and his eats brakes.
what my speedometer reads today. Although I do have the light out on my heated seat on the low setting. 🙄Lol
Looks like you got one of the 3 or 4 good ones they made Janice. mine doesn't even have 100,000 klms yet. I bought it new, strictly to tow our 30' ultra-lite camper.
- tie rods twice already
- ball joints
- front wheel bearings twice
- rear axle bearings
- brakes at least 3 times - and I don't ride them.....
- body is rotting away - even with factory undercoat and under-oiling.
- and now the diff is making what sound like terminal noises
A complete and total piece of mung. I was going to give it to one of our boys but won't do that to them. I can't even get anyone to steal it.
I remember having a Ford Zephyr, a British compact, everytime it rained the coil would get damp and it would misfire and backfire.........in the winter the rear passenger door would fly open on left turns...........but it got me to school and back...................
I thought I would post this pic as a peace offering to Janice...I took this at the Picton Armdrop on Saturday. A nice 300 doing a burnout...second thought, maybe a head gasket let go...either way it looked good and made lots of smoke !!

i gotta agree with you on that fact but i would say All the big three brands have had their own different pcs of crap at one time or another and will have again, no doubt. it is also true that each brand has cars that legends were/are made from. it probably boils down to the luck of the draw on what you bought and when. thats how mopar nut's, blue oval fanatics and the generals believers were probably created. it was a crap shoot of sorts.

this tripped a memory cell lol, "bought a 1950 Chev sedan that gave me 33 miles to gallon on a trip and used about a quart of oil in 2000 miles"
back in the day i/we were buying all brands of early to mid 50's cars on the cheap, plus-minus say 60.00 bucks. i really didn't think much about miles per gallon, mpg, on the gas side of it back then but i can remember buying used bulk oil and yes in the glass bottles. i guess that would be miles per quart, mpq. lol. i can also remember being p!ssed having to buy a qt of new oil to get down the road to a station that still had the used quarts. lol. they usually ended when/if you got caught between stations and about the only thing you kept that would interchange into any brand replacement you bought was the battery, if it was any good. lol.

memories, if we didn't have them you couldn't say, your not going to believe this one. lmao-lol

Your "tripping memory cell " comment gave me this. In Niagara Falls there was a Gas bar called Sauder Oil. For gas the attendant pumped gas up MANUALLY in to the Glass bowl on top of the pump and then it was gravity fed in to your tank. I can remember buying gas for .15 Cents /gallon (gas war) and oil was 20 cents /quart. Today I wish I had one of those pumps .
I've certainly had my share of POS's! Mostly due to being a young broke guy who couldn't afford to make the correct repairs...lol..But the worse one I can think of was a recent purchase..2007 Dodge Dakota..I'm a Mopar fan from way back, but this Truck made me re think if I'll ever buy a Dodge truck again!...Seem like I put brakes, rotors and calipers on this thing about every 7-8,000 miles and I'm not hard on brakes as evidenced by my other vehicles thru the years...
I remember buying lots of sedans in the mid seventies for $50 , be safetied ( properly ) and be plated and on the road for $200 then flog it for $500 if I didn't like it . Haven't purchased a new vehicle since "84 , biggest POS ever Ford Tempo , looked cool but ate ignition control modules like candy at $800 a pop from the dealer . i parked that Turd behind the shed before reaching 100K . I agree all the manufacturers seem to create at least one turd ; even new its buyer beware .
Worst POS was a mint full size 1994 Ford Bronco 4x4 / bought when it was 3 years old. 302/v8 and loaded / everything operated fine, until it turned 7 years old - one cracked manifold One summer, in and out of reputable garage / to the tone of $5,000 in repairs - leaking AC / condenser, coil, pump & some lines replaced - gas tank leak - read end cover leaking - oil pan leaking / motor had to be lifted a foot SUV was oil sprayed undercoated, but the quarter panel lips, still rusted out. - new repro. skins & full repaint ^^ My good mechanic: "Ford's are designed to last 7 years, statically that's their lifespan"...POS $$ PIT
BEST SUVwas a mint 1989 Nissan Pathfinder 4x4/ bought when it was 3 years old. - bought it with 34,000 Km and sold it 14 years later with 350,000 Km trouble free
- oil sprayed every fall, the Pathfinder never rusted
Wife drove it to work, for several years / I drove it a few years / handed down to our son, at 16 y/o.
- just couldn't kill it & was a tank in slushy snow covered roads / never used any engine oil either
