I think my 'puter just installed windows 10 all by itself or something.  Now all my favourites are gone.  Any idea how to get them back?  Looks like they want me to do a set up of some sort.  Is that what you guys had to do as well?

Favourites are now "bookmarks" ,........don't understand how it would install Win 10 unless you requested it . Are you coming out of Win 7 or Win 8 ? You should be able to import all of your favourites . They aren't lost .

And if you want to go back to what you had you should be able to uninstall windows 10 .. to go back.. I think you get 30 days to uninstall it .. you must have clicked that stupid window they bringing up on your screen..I have to close it several times every day they are trying to jam that down our throats.. It is my belief windows 10 is full of spyware so they know what time in the morning you go "P" ad the color of your socks..If you can google how to go back to what you had..I think it's still easy to just go back..I don't want it on my PC either..Not going there..

I read that whole article and it left me confused about what to do about windows 10.. Damn it... It is hard to separate the truth from opinions.. On the one side it confirms what a lot of people have told me about the spyware and information Microsoft and Google have imbedded into the operating system so they can track our every move.. I hate that part. But in another sentence they say windows 8 or 8.1 is garbage. I have 8.1 and I have had no problems that I know of other than it's slow and sometimes can be choppy or slow to load sites.. They say 7 is best and if you have 7 you are better off with that than 10.. Why is it that they are so persistant to be pushing 10 down our throat ??????????? confuse.. I read enough to see how they are forcing us in some cases to download 10.. They will just take over you computer and download it .. They will schedule you for an upgrade and if you don't cancel it they will do it automatically .. That article posted by 40bowtie is worth reading in it's entirety .. I just don't know enough about operating systems or computers to know the truth from fiction or out right bullchit..Now I am worried that they will change  me with out permission and do I want it confuse.. I wish I still had windows 7 .. I really don't trust why they are trying to stuff this down our throat.. There has to be a reason that so many don't trust the spyware they have built into 10 and I have been told you can not turn the spyware off and it tracks everything you do and can see everything in the room your in as well as pick up voice conversations.. I don't trust them with 10 but I don't know if I am Paranoid, overreacting or am I right not to want ten.. Any body here that knows the truth .

I liked Win XP for many years but when my desktop " blowed up " I wanted to get Win 7 because I had heard it was much like XP but better . My timing was such that I couldn't get Win 7 , I had to go to Win 8 .....kicking and screaming because it is like a tablet ( IMO ) and took a long time for me to understand it .....I bought the " Windows 8 For Dummies" book and it helped . I had two laptops on Win 8 , one at home and one at work . When I retired and Win 10 came along I put it on one of the laptops as a trial run . I liked it then and I like it now , especially they way photos are handled whether they be from the internet or my camera ....a brilliant system I think . In addition , I didn't need to download software for my camera or my printer ....Win 10 looked after it . Now I do use Google Chrome as my browser ....lots of issues with EI in the past .

I don't know about this spyware stuff to offer an opinion .....I figure if they want to spy on an old fart like me they aren't going to find much biggrin

I had the same problem years ago and just switched back to google and it went away . when they stopped supporting xp I switched to mac and don't regret it at all . No piss assign around turn it on and it works

Sorry Mike , wish I could be of help but I've never used Firefox and am not familiar with anything to do with it . I used IE for a number of years and switched over to Chrome after a lot of issues with the previous browser .
