I came home one day to find my oldest boy sitting on the gravel outside the big barn door.
He had a 7hp Honda bolted to a piece of plywood, putting away. Upon closer inspection I could see the carb was missing, replaced by a ball valve threaded onto a hose barb which had the large end welded to a plate that was itself bolted to the head in place of the carb.
A piece of rubber air hose clamped to the hose barb had it's other end pushed through a slit( and sealed with Goop) in the plastic cover of a coffee can. Another hose poked out of an identical slit(also Gooped) and ran to another coffee can - which in turn had another hose running to yet a 3rd coffee can.
The 3rd can had gasoline in it, the middle can had some droplets of gas and the one closest to the motor had fumes.
He started the motor with quick start and adjusted the rpms( slowly) by opening and shutting the ball valve.
I was surprised as heck but it ran.
After he shut it down I commended his experiment.....then I condemned it asking " where's the check valve?"
If that little motor backfired I'd have a couple pretty good sized holes in my driveway and probably a torched kid and barn. Peckerwood is too smart for his own good, lol.
