HI GUYS : I'm running a G.M. HEI in my 250 INLINE but my tach doesn't work -- I don't know anything about that stuff and would appreciate any tips on how to check it out -- Thanks in Advance -- LATER -- DON / FLEET 51
HI DON : Never worked from new -- I need to learn how to check out the feed from the " Tach " connection on the cap , then just go step by step -- Thanks -- LATER -- DON ? FLEET 51
If the car runs and the wire is good its sending a signal . If you lost the negative the coil would saturate and stop firing . What tach are you trying to use ?
Hi SLIM & HENRY : Thanks for the tips -- The car does run and the wire marked " Tach " is properly connected to the Tach lug on the HEI cap . " Old Koot " tudoured me yesterday on how to test for output at the cap -- I will start there . Henry : At this time the tach is installed in the dash , so testing it from another scource would be difficult -- Again , THANKS to all for your input -- LATER -- DON / FLEET 51
You can try and check the other connectors on the tach. IF its aftermarket, there should be a power and a ground to check. I had that trouble the first time I tried to use mine.
