It's always a good morning out. Attracts a good group of vendors and a good crowd. Drop by my spot and say hello. Usually against the wall and wearing my Amsoil hat next to the carb man.

i am glad you did find what you needed but when i went several years in a row it was more like a flea market then a swap meet the amount of parts there was a joke and the fact it took 2 hours of drive time to get there and not much to look at made it a waste for me i have no issues in driving as long as there is something there to look at still mite not find what i am looking for but it is always fun to look at what people have to show for our old rides
thanks bob

Yeah the 2 hour drive sucks when you don't find anything your looking for. I'm only an hour drive. But at some meets like that I try to find a good deal on something that I can sell at my next meet..... funny though I usually keep it and don't sell it at next meet. Sure can build a stockpile in a hurry doing it that way lol

I think Woodstock swap is a good swap meet. It's not big but I usually find something there I could use.

As our projects get further along or higher quality the list of swap meet stuff gets smaller. We just have to realize that.

I have come away from Woodstock with lots of gold over the years. Hell I even bought a running driving '55 Ford there. One good thing about it you can get in when

you get there. You don't have to line up for a half hour like cattle taking the last ride.

With this swap the early bird gets the worm not the other venders getting it before the gates open.

Just my opinion

Good meeting Rick and John at the meet today and can now put a face to the name. Pretty sure they both went home with some more treasurers...

I hope they come with a picture or two of their treasures..I have not been to the Woodstock swap for at least 10 years for the same reason Bob doesn't go.. It may be better but when I went last I could hear my voice echo off the walls in that room they were using .. I am glad if it's getting better I would like to do more closer swaps.. But I did not find any treasures on my last couple trips to Woodstock but it has been more than ten years..smile

All markets are a crap shoot. I have gone to my fair share of market's and only bought a coffee

and a sandwich . Big market's , small markets etc , But I love to drive my cars , beats the hell

out of sitting in a lawn chair in a pavement parking lot !!! I have met a great bunch of guy's

and know most venders ,so the commodery is great as well . I love all things old and

collectable , I will look a furniture, literature , farm stuff , socks, mittens, work wear

If their is a booth that doesn't interest me , I just walk by !!!

More of us should use your reasoning Joe..You definitely got the best stuff ..except for your socks.. You should get a couple new pair..biggrin.. It is true Over my time I have found some treasures at events as small as a yard sale ..You never know what you might find.. I believe the trick is to recognize a treasure even if it's not a part for the project you are working on at the moment..or even a car part..I have picked up some cool little old nick-knacks like some tire ashtrays, and some small toy cars..and or a couple neat old mechanics tools and much other old odd things..

You know swap meets interest me more then a car show. If I go to a major event in the states that has a show and a swap I spend 80% of my time in the swap and vendor area.Woodstock swap has always been good to me. The idea of going today was a lot better idea a week ago or a few days ago then it was this morning.          I had to go though as I had sold some tires to a young guy from Brantford and he was meeting me in Woodstock to get them. I bought a bag of 100, 2" disc's/pads to go in a die grinder these are the scotch bright type. I also found some real short valve stems that only stick out about 5/8" and some other stuff. Everything I bought today was new.It was damn cold though. I think  lot of the vendors stayed home because of the weather. I did get to meet GM Dad. Had a good day.

Joe is right about being a crap shoot. Stopped a guy walking by the table with a set of inside window garnish mouldings. He had bought a set of four for a 1952 Ford sedan. Now I don't think I would have taken them to sell at Woodstock if it were me and what are the chances a buyer needing them found a seller that had them. Good for him. Now if you ask him if the flea market was any good, what do you think he would say. Markets have changed a lot over the last 10 or even 5 years. I have been vending since Barrie was at Molson Park and spend an average of 30 days a year vending. Use to be able to sell $1000. on a good day. Now it's more like $100. a day. Internet has changed a big part of it but if I was doing it for the money I would have stopped a decade ago. Just love to chat with guys on what their building at present and usually a story comes along with it. ot sure how many guys knew Camille and his brother Andy Theireux out of Hamilton. Use to run a Studebaker called "Maggot" and then a 1966 Impala Wagon 283 that was very quick. Anywas, talking to a young kid who shows me some pics on his phone and he is Camille's grandson who was trying to find info on his grandfather's racing. I related a couple stories of selling parts to him back in the 70s. Made a neat contact for me today.

You are right about them being a crap shoot. Two years ago I realized that one of my inside window garnishes had gone missing. This is for a mid '60's MOPAR kind of a max wedge style car. I called a guy in Georgia he didn't have any. He said he had a few pieces but they were real bad shape. We went to the WPC (mopar) swap in Mt.Clemens. They have it set up where it cost $5 to get in or early bird is $10. Early bird gets in an hour early. Well if you have driven for an hour and a half whats another $5. I walked in and the second table had a full set of what I needed. There for 5 minutes and I had spent $150..These pieces were only used for one maybe two years and were chrome plated. That was a great swap meet.

Great story GMDad..That is the best part the stories and unexpected little things about people and old friends ..Great story about the young lad .. And talking about that car the maggot Was there not some guy on OR back a while talking about that car awhile back.. I sort of remember some fella on there rambling about that car .. I remember thinking he was touched ..I like the smaller swaps I just haven't been a lot lately with my stinking bad knees and ankles..I like them about the size of Bothwell.. Thanks for sharing the day and the storys..smile
