Went out to the first spring market at Ancaster , Good market ,but cold , ran into Slim and spent the day with him (Good guy that Slim!!)

Any how lot's of good stuff . Found an offenhauser bellhousing for a 401 buick and the guy had the flywheel and clutch at home.

John brought the flywheel and clutch to my home Fri. The bellhousing fits 57-64 ford transmissions ,which suits me just fine as I

have 3 or 4 ford transmissions. A couple of toploaders and a 59 3 speed with electric overdrive .Also found some good 33 34 chev car and truck stuff.

And yes the switch pitch transmission will be on the market soon enough !!!!

Went with my bud, Glenn Whitcroft, and as already been said, cold & foggy. Didn't find anything we couldn't live without.

Stayed busy until about 1:30. Was a good day. Sold some small stuff and wife managed to buy a couple of things we needed. Very sad about the guy who suffered the heart attack in the second building. They worked on him for awhile.. Not sure of outcome but ambulance didn't have lights or siren on when it left....

'53 to ’66 Buick Nailhead

 53-56nailheadkit.jpg  57-63nailheadkit.jpg  64-66nailheadkit.jpg
'53-'56 nailhead kit         '57-'63 nailhead kit         '64-'66 nailhead kit

Due to the many changes in transmissions all thru the ‘50’s and ‘60’s, its no wonder that no one has attempted to tackle the difficult task of designing engine to transmission adapter kits for these motors before. Have no misconceptions about how much time and effort went into the development of these kits. Every time the transmission changed, the flywheel changed, sometimes the crankshaft changed, and sometimes the starter changed. One of the many difficulties was trying to achieve universality so that I wouldn’t have to stock 13 different kits to cover 13 years.  Success! 3 kits now cover all these years. 1 kit covers ’53 thru ‘56, another fits the ’57 thru ‘63 while the third fits the '64 thru '66. These kits allow you to use any Chev transmission built for a V8 from 1955 to 1997, stick or automatic. There is a slight block modification on the ’57 thru ’60 blocks. You have to drill an extra starter hole, and cut a small ear off of the block. Then you will be running a ’61 to ’63 starter. There is a discrepancy over what year they changed starters. If you have a starter with the solenoid pointing down, then you will have to do this modification. If your starter is mounted with the solenoid pointing up, then you do not have to do it.

One of the criteria that I wanted to achieve with this kit was NO modifications to either the block or the transmission case or torque converter. The slight modification it takes to achieve my goal is minimal. For the most part it even allows you to retain your original starter. The flywheels are custom made (except the ’64 to ’66) and balanced. All parts are CNC machined and ground. All parts are American made.

Kit Pricing

The kit contains the following:

1. One aluminum adapter plate.

2. On the ’57 thru ’63, an inner crank spacer.

3. All kits take an outer crank adapter (different lengths between kits)

4. The '57-'63 kit comes with a new flywheel.
('53-'56 and '64-'66 kits retain original flywheels)

5. Bolt kit

6. Torque converter drive plate

I entertained that route , but at 700.00 American and 100 lbs shipping plus still would

require a clutch and pressure plate , I would have just sold my nailhead and switch pitch transmission

and used my 61 390 hp instead in my 33 chev 3 window
