I met with some real nice guys at the car show in Toronto on March 11, 2016. Two of those I had a good chat with are tuners from Gatineau Quebec and Ottawa. They shared with me some not so cool experiences they had at a cruise night showing up with there tuner cars. I don't understand this; to me anyone who loves there car and does whatever makes them happy should be an equal in the car seen. So happy to see that this group feels the same way. By the way I met Gene Winfield quite accidentally while we where both admiring an awsome cabover; talk about the real deal car lover. I just hope that I can still be as cool and in the game as he is at 88; soon to be 89.

Thanks to Grant (oldcarman) and Janice for Chris..We have not yet had any young tuners check us out.  I am not sure how but, I am going to find a way to make some of them aware we are here..Grant it was not too long ago in my own life that I was discriminating against them my self. I don't know exactly why..I was being an jerk for some reason.  I guess because I just felt they weren't really car guys .. I think most of the guys that have a problem with tuners have forgotten what it was like when we were young..I remember my cars were just older than the cars of the day..I had a few old 50s dodges, Fords, Chevies, Studebaker's, Rambler's, Morris minors, Prefects, and others for my daily driver..They were plentiful then..Remember back gas was 25 cents a gallon or less..about the only performance stuff we had was blue lights, Mexican blankets, dingle balls,  colored bug deflectors, fender skirts and sun visors Those were the days..I remember my insurance was $25.00 bucks you paid at the license office .They called it the unsatisfied judgemnt fund..I think as our generation grew up we started this hot rod stuff just because we had so many bone yards full of old cars and a lot of us repaired  and or swapped motors out of necessity and no money..and the stock cars and tracks were where we learned our skills..Seemed like about every garage had a stock car.. Me thinks many have forgotten those days.. Most of old guys need to think back and remember more,, Most of those young guns are our kids or grand kids.. Having Chris with me for 6 or 7 years was great. I never ever felt Chris worked for me ..we just worked to-gether and became best friends, Chris was bright, eager to learn, and his interest and skills with the new generation of cars made me a tuner , well not exactly I don't like small cars much, but it's a physical thing for me it's just I hate getting in and out of them I am used to bigger vehicles to step up into not crawl down..But I am sure open to accepting them into this group but the same rules apply ..NO GOOFS..

Gene Winfield is the king of cutting chopping 49 to 51 Mercs  and a real down to earth guy I met him several years ago at Coco hall in Detroit when he cut a Merc there as part of the cobo hall car thing ..That was back in the 80s ..He was just another rodder well he was a master with Mercs for sure..He could cut one so as you didn't even have to do any mud work almost ..I am rambling now...   A Gene Winfield clip below

Maybe I can get some pointers on how to get my wife's Mazda 3 to pass other vehicles on the road. beside tossing the SkyActiv and dropping in a SBC. POS that thing is.   

red oak don't be so hard on yourself we are all getting ugly just at different times in our lives don't worry cars always look better then us lol
