Door Panel Boards

I have been looking for door panels for my 51 Chev 4 door. I tried Antique Chev in Waterdown and no luck. I tried National Chev and they do supply them at about $700.00  US for a set of 4 plus shipping.  GULP.  I have decided to try my hand at it,

I am having a problem finding the material for the door panel boards.  Anyone have any suggestions on what to use and where to get them.

I have bought all of the " Hardboard " I have used on my vehicle from places that sells plain old Fabric,...( Fabric as in household curtain fabric,..right up to dresses & shirt materials,...and Craft supplies ) it is very good quality hardboard, and easy to work with, and not expensive at all. Try googling Fabric and Craft stores in your area,...there should be some around you close.

I BEANS : I am in the process of creating new panel boards right now for my '51 , to be covered in new cloth . Years ago , an upholsterer ( friend ) in Florida , said to go to " Lowes " and buy X-11 board -- Foil on one side . That is what I am now using , and possibly with Lowes now in Ontario , just maybe it is available locally . It directly resembles the original factory board-- Some kind of super - pressed paper product , and it is nice to work with . I made it over-size , then keep gently whittling it down to size . One of those little air driven mini saws works really well -- HOPE this helps -- LATER -- DON/ FLEET 51
