Hogtown Metalshaping Meet 2017

MAY 6-7, 2017

The Hogtown Metalshaping Meet will be held at my work place on the first weekend of May this year.

No experience necessary and is encouraged.

I will bring all my shaping equipment from home but we could always use more shaping stuff such as e-wheels, hammers, bags, stumps, etc.

E-wheels are extremely important and a few guys brought theirs last year. I appreciate the effort they took and it would be great if it could happen again.

I have manual shrinkers and stretchers and also the Baleigh power shrinker/stretcher to play with. We have enough TIG welders so we're OK there.

BBQ lunch will be served both days.
Both days we will get started at 9:00 AM and run until everyone's burned out.

The meet will be held in the Markham Road/Finch Avenue area in Scarborough. (Toronto)

If you have a large project let me know as the time gets closer, I can see if we can have enough space for everything.
We have plenty of space for doors, hoods, fenders etc, so bring them on.

If you wish to attend please reply to this thread so I have an idea of how many are coming.

yes only a maybe at this time unfortunately. I read that this is same weekend as Stirling???

 Just did a quick search.

 

Yep same weekend a Sterling and Lindsay.

gonna be a bad turnout pugs , many of the guys do the markets and both markets are Saturday and sunday events

Bump.

I understand everyone is going to Lindsay or Stirling.

I have been thinking of moving the Meet to the fall.
It may be possible that there will be a second informal meet this fall to kick it off.

Are any of those who are going to the swap meets that can't make it, interested in attending, if it was in October some time?

Pugs,I always struggle to get to your spring meet ,however in the fall,count me in too! I will be in Stirling vending for the 44th time,will not be leaving that event!

I'll post up a new thread in late summer for the new official Fall meet.

I will do it then every year after this as everyone is real busy in the spring.

Looks like two meets for me this year. Nobody tell Chef Mark. He might quit.

Is it possible to just 'hang around' and learn a little at this meet? Aside from maybe a small bracket or something, I don't have anything that would need building, but I think I could definitely learn by being there...make sense? Like others, I'll probably do the swap meets that weekend, since they are near to me anyways. Moving to fall might be better. Or even winter, when projects really are all we have to get us through the snow season? Just a thought.

 Of course bench racing is permitted and there's a lot of that going on at the meets.

Anyways, the grill will be cooking around noon hour for any bench racers that show up.
