To Posi or not to Posi....that is the question!

Just looking for some opinions on Posi or not posi.

Some back ground info.  The rear end in my 1999 classic style 1/2 ton 2wd pick up broke(4 teeth gone on the ring and the pinion flops around like it has no bearing left and who knows what might be missing off of it).

The truck had a tow package and came with a 3:42 limited slip rear.  I use the truck as my daily driver but do use it to tow my car trailer and my 6500lb house trailer.  

The local wreckers has a 3:42 open rear for $200 with a 4 month warranty.

Thus the question.  Should I hold out and keep looking for a posi or will the open rear due just fine?

Thanks to one of the guys on one of the forums I was able to get a rear that I will leave in temporarily so I am not stuck with out the truck. It is an open 2:7 something rear.  Seems to work fine but I don't think that ratio will help when I am towing my trailers.   At this point I am not missing the posi....

Posi is nice when in mud snow & Drag racing. I would grab that diff  Rich.Give it a fluid change and your go to go.

For a daily, year-round (meaning it's going to see snow), and rwd, I much prefer posi.

I think it all depends on what you want in a posi, I am running a 4.11 full locker and it drags one tire going around corners, hence a bit of a tire chirp. The only downfall for me with this axle is trying to push the car around the garage when I turn the steering wheel, that drag on one wheel is like having the brakes on lol.
