Windows ten got me.. It was on me this morning.. I can either delete it or try it.. So I am going to try it.. Anyone have any serious issues with it.. I have heard bad things about it .. I heard it has lots of stuff for Microsoft to spy on us and everything we do plus everything behind us is theirs for the taking.. I should choke my chicken and give them a show.. But I think my chicken has died.. biggrin

I have 10 on my computer and I don't like it. It is loaded with ads and it spies on you all the time. it has also slowed down my computer to the state its going to take a BFH to smarten it up. 7 or 8 or XP or anything is better.  I think you can try it for a while and you have ,I think 30 days to go back to your old system, after that its too late and you re stuck with 10

This might be a bit late, but I downloaded a little program called Never10 that will prevent Windows 10 from loading but will allow other important updates to load. I previously had XP Pro and now Windows 7, and want to keep it as long as I can. All the garbage in Windows 10 is just evil in my opinion.

All I can say is I don't have any trouble with my Win 10 .....I have Win 8.1 on a second laptop and virtually never use it , preferring Win 10 . It is faster than any system I had in the past ( XP and 8.1) and my favourite feature on Win 10 is the way it handles the thousands of car ,truck and model railroading pics I have ......lets me edit them without the need of another program etc .....stores them in various folders and all... On the model railroad Forum I've belonged to for many years , we've had the Win 10 discussion for some time now and I would say the approval rate is about 90% . There will always be those who don't like something for various reasons and that's fine with me .

This is what I mean about what I have been hearing about why windows is pushing 10 so hard because of the spyware built in  their operating system to spy on us..

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2016/jul/20/france-microsoft-user-data-collection-privacy

I don't like that they are spying on me.. This is only going to get worse in the future as they increase the information they collect just by installing updates in the future .. it's a huge invasion of our privacy..

It the spying that bothers me. If I go on KIJIJI to search for something the ads in the next day or 2 will be for what I was searching. The same for Home Depot or Lowes and even some grocery stores. I hate TV commercials with a passion and now Microsoft is invading my privacy WITHOUT my consent. This pisses me off to no end. Its bad enough we have to put up with Government dictating to us every day and now we have the computer doing the same thing and we have no control at all.

I don't know about the spying aspect of it all ....they will be pretty bored by spying on me .........the electronic snooping is something that is with us every day as it is , with cameras all over the place , people pointing stupid cell phones at everything they see . I ignore it all , no cell phone , no texting .

I guess you could look into a Mac system but I would think it will be " same $hit , different pile "   biggrinbiggrin

Chuk,
When I get some time I will screen shot all the things to turn off. Most of the spy stuff can be turned off. The one thing I don't have and will never get is a Hotmail account and it is one of the worst things to do is add that to the Windoze 10.

We are just now testing it in the office where I work and they have also turned a lot of the spyware.

Styline ,you were saying it slowed your computer ...could that be from your anti-virus ? Back when I had XP, I bought AVG anti-virus because I liked the reviews on it ....think I got 30 days free .....anyhow it slowed that system to a walk so I cancelled the AVG . On their follow up questionaire asking why I left , they had a box to tick " slowed down computer " which I ticked , so apparently I wasn't the only one .

I got AVG on my Win 10 and have kept it because it didn't hinder performance .

Thanks Frank:..

And TJ:  I used to use AVG but they still drag you down.. I am using Avast ..It's free and does not seem to be slowing me down.. But what do I know , I am far from being a computer guru..I don't like what I hear about 10.. I also never liked 8.1 and I can't stay with it as Microsoft is going to quit supporting it as early as next year however they will continue to support windows 7 indefinitely at this point..So we really have not much choice if we want to be able to use new developing software yet to be released..

Yes I use it it's called classic shell.. I just got whacked with 10 and so far it is not bad, I am still trying to sort out a couple bugs with sound, and mouse not working for some links,  I am going to be installing the classic shell on the week-end.. I was using it on my 8.1 and it works pretty much and looks just like my 7 on my shop computer.. I will let you know how it works on ten as soon as I install it this week-end..I have not forgot your wheels yet either.. Just been swamped with some things to get done with the trailer..

Use this link posted by Time Traveller if you are still fighting off the windows 10 upgrade. It seems to be working very well. I was able to turn updates back on with no worries or signs of windows 10 showing its ugly face.

I have ten and so Far I hate it.. It is just crap in my view.. My computer has slowed to a crawl.. it takes 2 to 4 seconds to open a window or switch a page..It has been playing you-tube videos as soon as I go to thread with a you-tube video without me activating the video.. I have always used IE and I prefer using IE but since 10 has downloaded IE will hardly work , I switched to Fire fox and I hate it is faster but has way to much of a mess..I can't find half my stuff and the tool bar sucks for finding things.. does not have a tool bar anything like IE and windows 8.. I have been screwing with this for about 6 hrs and By tomorrow I am probably going back to 8 where I never had a bit of problem.. I do not like anything about 10 so far.. It has been a horrow for me.. I freaking hate ten.. I have windows 7 premium on my shop computer and I am not changing it to ten for sure.. This 10 in my view sucks.. I may change my mind after another 10 or so hrs to try to tune it  but right now I have this urge to toss this whole computer in the creek..I hate the picture format.. It has put my picutres in different places. Will not copy and paste into a forum My view of 10 so far is, I wish I had never heard of it.. I have net been able to get IE to work hardly at all . Wish I never heard of 10..It has destroyed my ability to do anything with my computer I am going to try to reset my computer back about 4 days to see if I can get back to 8.1 .. I was not having any problem with it..All I get now is internet explorer is not responding..I can go take a shower while I wait for it respond ... I am not a happy windows 10 guy at all..

The browser choice is an important part of how your 'puter will perform . ....I ditched IE about 3 years ago because it slowed down performance . I went to Google Chrome and like everything about it . It does store things differently ( using "bookmarks" ) and takes a day or two to get the feel ,but it works .

If it has not been 30 days you can reset to Windows 7 or 8 depending on what was previously installed. I waited too long and now I,m stuck with 10. I wish I had switched back to my original 7. It didn't have near the ads and was not as slow for sure.

My desktop with xp finally crapped out last week. Memory chipped died. Bought a new desktop with win 10. No liking it. Got rid of the loaded browser and went with Firefox. Only problem so far is I didn't write down the password for a couple sites. Including this one. Gotta use phone to do this

Gone are the days of attaching pics via highlight and right click.
The damn pics arrive as Skydrive and they must be viewed on line with an expiry date. WTF??

I now need to compose the email and then find the pics and attach them. What a PIA.
Thanks Microsoft.
I believe 7 is the same?
